SHIELDING

Graduating project from the Graphic Communication Design BA at Central Saint Martins.

This publication aims to raise awareness of our shielding community and the challenges they faced as a result of the COVID-19 Pandemic.

I recruited a wonderfully enthusiastic group of volunteers who generously agreed to play a part in my project. Aged from 16-90, from Berkshire to Newcastle, each of them had a story to tell. Recording their daily routines with disposable 35mm cameras, whilst documenting their personal reflections on the travails they encountered whilst shielding restrictions and regulations remained in place.

Their words and pictures are accompanied by a series of socially distanced portrait photos, which I had great pleasure being able to shoot once restrictions were first lifted, on a medium format Mamiya RB67 Pro-S.

I additionally ran a Kickstarter for this project to be able to give back to each and every volunteer.
